David Matson is a Lugano-based DJ known for progressive sound, long transitions and energy that builds instead of spikes. Melodic techno and progressive trance through the winter, house and afro house through the summer — every set prepared like a project and played like a conversation with the room.
Most DJs start at twenty. David Matson started after thirty years on the dance floor.
He grew up on A State of Trance and Above & Beyond, followed the sound into Anjunadeep and Afterlife, and spent years listening the way few people do — to transitions, to atmosphere, to the way energy moves through a room. By the time he stepped behind the decks, he knew exactly what kind of night he wanted to build.
His background in IT and project management shows in the preparation, not on the floor. Every set is mapped and rehearsed, so that on the night he can let go, read the crowd and follow it. He comes prepared — and leaves space for the room to decide where the night goes.
He has played Liquid Club in Malta, William Buzz and Sidi Resorts in Alicante, and held a residency at AVA Lugano. Every last Friday of the month, his series The Set That Never Happened releases a full two-hour journey on YouTube, while his own tracks and remixes live on Spotify.
Based in Lugano, just an hour from Milan, David plays club nights, private events and après-ski parties across Switzerland, Italy and Europe.
